Hey y'all!
So, one day Sister Bonner and I were walking around, like we do
everyday, and something caught my eye... I looked down and found a four leaf
clover! So of course I had to stop and get a picture, and then Sister
Bonner said "wait, I want one too!" and so she started looking in the
clover patch, and within 30 seconds she found her own four leaf clover - it
must have been our lucky day. :)
This week has been awesome and busy, which is always good.
Tuesday night we got to attend the Mission Prep institute class, which
was so much fun! We did some role play with the students where we were
the investigators. I feel kind of bad, because there weren't as many
students as the instructor was hoping would come, so there were two students
assigned to teach 4 missionary "investigators"... of course they
haven't practiced as much as we have, yet. :) But they did pretty
well, and we got to point out the things they did really well and give them
parting bits of advice. They will make great missionaries soon! It
was a lot of fun, because we were able to see just how far we've come in our
teaching abilities - it is amazing how constant study and practice and prayer
helps us to become better teachers. And it's all through the Lord's help,
of course. :)
We were able to see Brehash again this week. We got to talk to
him for a bit longer this time, because we caught him at a time where the gas
station wasn't so busy. I don't know if I told y'all already, but he has
read the whole Book of Mormon and really enjoyed it. He's since started
over again, and we gave him a Bible to start reading too. He's from a
middle eastern country, I'm not sure which, and has only been in the United
States for about 8 months. And he's working to try and bring the rest of
his family over here, so he doesn't take much time off work. He did ask
his boss for some time off on Sunday so he could come to church, but his boss
said no... :( we'll continue to stop by and see him, and we're trying to
set something up with the Rackleffs once they get back (they're in Utah right
now) so we can teach him at there house on his day off. Hopefully we'll
get to teach him a full discussion soon!
We saw Crystal and her family - they haven't been at church lately,
so we set up an appointment and saw her, her cousin who is now living with her,
and their kids. Crystal works every other weekend, so she should be
coming to church at least twice a month... turns out she's been going to
Lakewood Baptist church on her Sundays off to listen to Joel Olstein... He's a
powerful speaker, and I've heard a lot about him while here in Houston.
Yeah, he's a great motivational speaker, but he doesn't have the truth
like our church does! We need to help Crystal see the difference.
She was supposed to come to church with us yesterday, but she didn't
come... :P We'll see her later this week though.
We also saw Jo and Lesa this week - Jo is still really struggling
with losing her sight and hearing. We had planned on sharing a certain
scripture with her, I don't remember what it was, but instead the Spirit told
me to share one of my favorite scriptures - D&C 121:7-9. We talked
with her about the importance of enduring to the end with faith and hope - hope
that there is something better in store for us in the end. There are so
many different trials that we go through in this life, but each of them are to
help us grow. And they really are "but a small moment" in the
eternal scheme of things - Elder J. Ruesch - I loved your time analogy. :)
If we endure with faith and hope, we will be blessed even more than we
ever thought was possible! It is incredible, just how much hope the
gospel gives us!
Of course a highlight of the week was the Genera Women's Broadcast!
It was amazing, and so spiritual, and made me so excited for General
Conference this weekend! I love listening to our leaders speak to us, and
I love having the spirit with me the whole time testifying of the truthfulness
of their words. Melanie was able to come, and from what we heard (she sat
with some friends from the ward, we saw her from across the room) she really
enjoyed it. I love being a part of the sisterhood in the church - it
truly is amazing!
I love y'all so much! Thanks for the continued love and
support! Have a great week!

p.s. we had lobster bisque at a member's house for dinner on
Thursday, and yes, we did quote Studio C. ;)
