When in stress, laugh and eat skittles :)

Devin, I hope you enjoy the subject line. ;)

Hey, y'all!

This week has been crazy.  Of course, every week out here in "the great state of Texas" is crazy. I love it. :)  Because Sister Morris is Sister Training Leader for the Katy zone, we have to go on 7 exchanges this transfer... 7! That's more than one a week!  It's kind of frustrating, because we both just want to be with each other, in Westlake... but we do what we've got to do.  We started this week with Sister Morris going to Missionary Leadership Council (MLC) and so I spent the day in Bear Creek (the ward just north of Westlake) with the sisters there.  It was fun, but I couldn't help but be a little bit stressed because I felt like our area was being left behind!  But no worries, we got back that evening and everything was good.  But Sister Morris was super stressed - she says that MLC always leaves her drained... so when we got home after our evening appointments and had finished our nightly planning, we broke out the skittles and ended up laughing so hard that it hurt.  Laughing is a great way to relieve stress. :)

And then we had another exchange this weekend with the Sealy Spanish Hermanas.  It was great, because while Hermana Deloya was in Westlake with me, we ended up tracting into a whole bunch of people that speak Spanish.  So we were able to get a lot of referrals for the Hermanas in our area!  No one for us to teach, but we did find people who are willing to be taught! :)

Unfortunately, with the Thanksgiving holiday, we didn't have very many people at church... Elizabeth and Eric didn't come... and none of the less actives that we're working with came... So, yesterday wasn't the best.  And then, our fast Sunday dinner had to cancel on us... but no worries, we didn't starve, I made pancakes. :)  And Elizabeth called us this morning and apologized for not coming to church – something had come up with their family and they ended up leaving town unexpectedly for the weekend.  But we have an appointment to teach them later this week, hopefully it goes well!  Oh!  And Brenda contacted us out of the blue this week too!  We've been having a hard time getting in contact with her, and last Saturday we were able to visit with her great aunt Maria, and because of that Brenda texted us and said that she's been really busy lately, but she said she'd let us know what time this week we could come by.  I'm looking forward to teaching her again!

Thanksgiving was great! We had dinner with the Westbyes – Brother Westbye is the ward mission leader, and he and his family invited us and the elders from our ward over.  And then we went to the Andersons for dessert - and they had some non-member friends and less active family there, so we were able to answer some of their questions about what we do as missionaries, which was good.

I hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving, and I hope you enjoy your Christmas season as well. :)  Sister Morris and I are looking forward to finding during December - sharing Christmas messages, caroling, and helping others come closer to Christ - sounds great to me! :)  I love you all so much! Thanks for the love and support!

Sister Ririe

I got this quote during relief society a few Sundays ago.  I'm not sure who said it, but I've decided that it's going to be my motto. :)

"I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed.  The dye has been cast! I have stepped over the line.  The decision has been made; I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.  I won't look back, let up, slow down, or be still.  My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure.  I'm finished and done with low living, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tainted visions, worldly talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.  I no longer need preeminence, positions, promotions, plaudits, or popularity.  I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk with patience, am uplifted by prayer, and labor with power.  My face is set, my gait is fast, and my goal is heaven.  My road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear!  I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, divided or delayed.  I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander through the maze of mediocrity.  I won't give up, shut up, or let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, and paid up of the cause of Christ.  I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till I know, and work till He stops me.  And when He returns for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me.  My banner will be clear."
